Sonic Syndicate - Only Inhuman

One day, while I was pottering about on the Nuclear Blast website, I saw banner ads that claimed that Anders Friden from In Flames was going ape shit over the new album from Sonic Syndicate, titled Only Inhuman (released May 2007).

Subsequently, I got the album, and it came as no surprise that the band sounded a lot like In Flames and Soilwork, with maybe a little Mnemic thrown in. Then again, this is just me talking. For those that craved more music that sounded exactly like those bands, this must surely be a godsend. I know I didn’t capitalize God. Shut up.

Overall, it sounds okay. With a little work, they should be able to beat In Flames at their own game. All in good time, little ones.

Tracklist:

  1. “Aftermath” – 4:10
  2. “Blue Eyed Fiend” – 3:52
  3. “Psychic Suicide” – 3:53
  4. “Double Agent 616″ – 3:54
  5. “Enclave” – 4:10
  6. “Denied” – 3:52
  7. “Callous” – 3:52
  8. “Only Inhuman” – 4:13
  9. “All About Us” – 2:48
  10. “Unknown Entity” – 3:54
  11. “Flashback” – 3:39
  12. “Freelancer” (bonus track) - 3:45

The copy I have doesn’t have the bonus track. If you manage to lay your hands on it, drop me a line, or something. Actually, don’t bother. The 11th track can’t be too different from the preceding 10 tracks. I’ll just listen to the album and try to imagine the bonus track during one of my drunken reveries.

I give this album four oranges out of ten apples.

Hey, four oranges out of ten apples isn’t a bad score. I like oranges. Don’t you?

I checked the album out. Liked track 1. In Flames is really good, and I don’t think they’ll be beat easy.
