Moonlapse - The Atonement of Sins

Moonlapse is basically Puritania, with Santosh replacing Vishnu on vocals. The rest of the line up remains the same, though: Shashank, Guitars; Adi, Guitars; Ranjit, bass; Rohit, Drums; and Kalyan, Keyboards. They claim to be the first act in Mysore to try grunt-style vocals, but I do remember seeing Clinton Lopez’s band, Holy Grail, trying that at a small gig at Balaji Palace a few years ago.

Anyway, here’s one of Moonlapse’s original compositions, performed live at AIISH Awaaz 2007.

Santosh is rumored to have performed very well during practice sessions, but both his distorted vocals and Kalyan’s clean singing fell short at AIISH Awaaz. Oh, well, there’s always next time. Other than that, I really like this track… very Opeth-ish. The song is titled The Atonement of Sins.

Lyrics:

As the candle light burns the darkness away
The night slowly fades into day
A dawn of a new horizon
An atonement of sins for no reason

Giving in, to the pain
Living in the shadow
Searching for the stain
To wipe clean with my soul

Perplexed by the sound
My intentions questioned
Memories orbit around
My mind that’s summoned

Remorse forced within
Colours of hate revealed
Painted by sins
Innocence concealed
